✒️ The flag of North Macedonia consists of a stylized yellow sun with eight broadening rays extending to the edges of a red field. Officially adopted on October 5, 1995, the design symbolizes "the new sun of liberty," a reference from the national anthem "Denes nad Makedonija" ("Today Over Macedonia"). The current flag replaced the previous version, which featured the ancient Vergina Sun and was subject to controversy with Greece. The red and yellow color scheme reflects traditional Macedonian heraldry and represents national pride and historical continuity.
