✒️ The flag of Zheleznogorsk, a closed city in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, is a powerful heraldic symbol reflecting the city's unique history in the nuclear industry. The flag consists of a solid red field, upon which a central charge of a golden (yellow) bear is displayed. The bear is depicted walking and tearing apart a stylized silver atom, complete with a nucleus and three elliptical electron orbits. This striking imagery is a direct reference to the city's foundation and primary purpose: nuclear research and the production of weapons-grade plutonium during the Soviet era, when it was known as Krasnoyarsk-26. The bear, a traditional symbol of Siberia and Russia, represents strength and foresight, while the act of splitting the atom signifies the harnessing of nuclear power. The design of the flag is based directly on the coat of arms of Zheleznogorsk. It was officially approved by the decision of the Zheleznogorsk City Council on July 17, 2002. Following its local adoption, the flag was registered in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with the assigned number 964.
