✒️ The Movimiento de Liberación Nacional – Tupamaros (MLN-T), commonly known as the Tupamaros, was a Marxist-Leninist urban guerrilla group active in Uruguay from the 1960s to the 1980s. Their flag is a modification of the historical flag of José Artigas, a Uruguayan national hero. It typically features the blue-white-blue horizontal triband with a red diagonal stripe of the Artigas flag, upon which a yellow five-pointed star with a black letter "T" inside is centrally placed. This design combines elements of Uruguayan nationalism (through the Artigas flag) with leftist revolutionary symbolism (the star and "T" for Tupamaros), reflecting their goal of social and political change in Uruguay. While some variations exist, including the occasional use of a red star in propaganda, the yellow star on the Artigas flag remains the most recognized emblem of the Tupamaro movement.
