✒️ lag redesign for Tucson for funsies, and i wanted to share it with y'all. And the meaning behind it. We'll start with the four stripes. Which stand for the mountain ranges around the city. The Catalinas, the Santa Ritas, the Rincons, and the Tucson mountains. They hold the valley, frame our sunsets and remind us where we are. The white chevron is for Sentinel Peak, aka, A Mountain. It being a major landmark, a symbol of our city and our presence in the Sonoran Desert. The shape points inward, like it s guiding you into the city. Inside that white field is a copper star. A nod to the Arizona state flag and Tucson's place in the copper state. The white itself is for the Mission san Xavier del Bac, aka the "white dove of the desert," a place rooted in both its colonial history and indigenous survival. Which is also how we get to the color palette of the stripes. The color comes from the flags of the Yoeme(Yaqui) and the Tohono O'odham peoples, whose lands we live on, and whose presence continues to shape what Tucson is and should be. So this flag is for the Land, the People, the history and the future. From the mountains to the mission, from the city to the desert sky. This is Tucson. Thoughts? I know it looks like a pride flag.. lol
