✒️ During the Great War of 1914 - 1918, Sweden sided with Germany and the Central Powers against the Triple Entente, more famously known as the Allies. In the aftermath of the war, following Germany's defeat and surrender, Sweden was officially annexed by the United Kingdom. Britain decided it needed the vital coal and timber resources of Scandinavia to keep her vast empire alive. However, right on Europe's doorstep, the Russian Civil War raged between Red and White forces. Following the Bolshevik victory and the founding of the U.S.S.R, Marxist ideology made its way to nearby Scandinavia. With Britain's annexation of Sweden, it soon made its way to the British isles too. Great Britandinavia (as the nation was now known) was dramatically changed by this introduction. A new leftist government made its way to parliament and the country renamed itself to the Social Democratic Kingdom of Britandinavia. But, unlike the Communists in Russia, Britandinavian socialism differed greatly. The royal family was spared and workers received equal pay to their upper class counterparts. Social classes were abolished and the original vision Marx had envisioned became a reality. Today, Britandinavia is thriving under this social democracy. It being among the most successful nations on earth.
