✒️ The flag of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), the political party that led the Nicaraguan Revolution and currently governs the country, is a striking horizontal red and black bicolour. This design is deeply symbolic of the FSLN's revolutionary ideology and historical struggle. The red typically represents revolution, struggle, and the bloodshed endured by those fighting for social justice, while the black signifies the mourning for the fallen heroes of the revolution and the clandestinity of the early struggle against the Somoza dictatorship. The flag is a direct homage to the colors used by Augusto César Sandino, the Nicaraguan nationalist and revolutionary after whom the movement is named, and has become an iconic emblem of the Sandinista movement.
