✒️ The Republic of West Florida Flag, also known as the Bonnie Blue Flag, was the banner of the short-lived Republic of West Florida, an independent territory declared in 1810 in parts of present-day Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The flag features a single white star centered on a blue field, symbolizing independence and sovereignty. Though the republic existed for only a few months before being annexed by the United States, the flag later became a popular symbol of Southern identity and was used by various groups, including early Confederate forces during the American Civil War.
