✒️ The state flag of New York features a deep blue field with the state coat of arms centered. The coat of arms depicts two allegorical figures: Liberty, holding a staff topped with a Phrygian cap and standing on a crown symbolizing freedom from British rule, and Justice, blindfolded and holding scales and a sword, representing impartiality and fairness. Above the shield is a crest consisting of an eagle perched on a globe. Beneath the shield is a banner bearing the state motto, "Excelsior", meaning "Ever Upward." The flag was officially adopted in 1778 and reflects New York's commitment to liberty, justice, and progress.
