✒️ During the First French Empire (1804–1814 and 1815) under Napoleon Bonaparte, the national flag remained the Tricolore of blue, white, and red vertical stripes, which had been adopted during the French Revolution. While the basic design of the tricolor persisted, regimental and imperial standards often incorporated additional symbols of the Empire, most notably the Imperial Eagle (a golden eagle on a blue field), Napoleonic bees, and the Emperor's initial "N" within a laurel wreath. Similarly, during the Second French Empire (1852–1870) under Napoleon III, the fundamental French Tricolore was again the national flag, though military banners and imperial standards often bore the Imperial Eagle and other Napoleonic emblems to signify the renewed imperial authority.
