✒️ The flag of the Philippines consists of two horizontal bands of blue over red, with a white equilateral triangle at the hoist containing a golden-yellow sun with eight rays and three five-pointed stars, one at each corner of the triangle. The blue symbolizes peace, truth, and justice, while the red stands for patriotism and valor. The sun represents independence and the eight rays signify the first provinces that revolted against Spanish rule. The three stars represent the three main geographical regions of the country: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Unique among national flags, it can be flown with the red stripe on top in times of war. The flag was officially adopted on 12 June 1898, coinciding with the country's declaration of independence.
