âïž The flag of Peru consists of three vertical bands of equal width, with red on the hoist and fly sides and white in the center. The red symbolizes the blood shed for independence, while the white represents peace and purity. There are two official versions of the flag: the civil flag, which is a simple red-white-red tricolor, and the state flag, which features the national coat of arms centered in the white band. The coat of arms includes a vicuña, a cinchona tree, and a cornucopia, symbolizing the nation's fauna, flora, and mineral wealth. The current flag design was officially adopted on 25 February 1825, following Peruâs independence from Spanish rule.
