✒️ The flag of Libya consists of three horizontal stripes of red, black, and green, with the black stripe being twice the height of the others and bearing a white crescent and five-pointed star at its center. The red stripe symbolizes the blood of the martyrs, the black represents the dark days of colonialism, and the green signifies prosperity and the country’s agricultural wealth. The crescent and star are traditional symbols of Islam. Originally adopted in 1951 upon Libya’s independence, the flag was readopted in 2011 following the end of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime, restoring the design of the Kingdom of Libya.
