✒️ The state flag of Colorado features three horizontal stripes of equal width: the top and bottom stripes are blue, and the middle stripe is white, symbolizing the clear blue skies and snowcapped mountains of the state. Over the stripes is a circular red "C," filled with a golden disc. The red represents the color of Colorado’s soil, the gold stands for the abundant sunshine the state receives, and the blue and white reflect the natural landscape. Designed by Andrew Carlisle Carson, the flag was officially adopted in 1911. The letter "C" also stands for Colorado, which is derived from the Spanish word for "colored red," referring to the state's red sandstone formations.
