Cannara is a small town in the Umbria region of Italy. like many towns in the region, despite being in the literal center of the country, it has never been very populated, but lately it has been experiencing demographic losses due to aging, and the social fabric of the onece thriving community is rapidly deteriorating. The members of the newest generation of the town see it as something not worth fighting for and look to leave the town, if not the region or the country entirely. I myself had to grapple with these feelings, combined with the emptiness of seeing my town and specially my home becoming more and more empty. but deep down i know things can be turned around, i know that nw opportunities can be created here, and to do that, the social fabric of the community has to be rebuilt, a sense of belonging rekindled, and what better than a flag, a symbol to do that? or at the very least a better homage to the ancestors than a buquet of flowers
