✒️ Mockup of the first flag of what would become California, made in 1846 by Peter Storm and colleagues. Other designs made later in 1846 and 1847 by others would be amalgamated and adapted to create the general concept of what the current flag of California became. I adapted the work of Wikipedia users Wighson and Mrmw, and modified the aspect ratio for use on this site. All credit for the vectors and organization goes to them. User AlienSpoon made the bear graphic. The original Storm flag is somewhat amateurish- being made by hand and on short notice. This version takes the original design and modifies it to what it may have looked like if it had been adapted into an official state flag.
