✒️ The state flag of California, commonly known as the Bear Flag, features a design that reflects the state's history and ideals of strength and independence. The flag displays a grizzly bear walking on a patch of green grass, symbolizing strength and unyielding resistance. Above the bear is a red five-pointed star, inspired by the lone star of Texas, representing sovereignty. Below the bear are the words "California Republic," a reference to the short-lived California Republic declared in 1846 during a revolt against Mexican rule. The red stripe along the bottom adds to the visual balance of the flag. The current version of the flag was adopted as the official state flag in 1911, based on the original Bear Flag raised by American settlers during the Bear Flag Revolt.
