✒ The flag of Brittany, known as the Gwenn ha Du (Breton for "white and black"), is a regional flag of the historic province of Brittany in northwestern France. It consists of nine horizontal stripes alternating black and white, representing the traditional dioceses of Brittany—five black stripes for the French-speaking dioceses (Dol, Nantes, Rennes, Saint-Malo, and Saint-Brieuc) and four white stripes for the Breton-speaking dioceses (TrĂ©guier, LĂ©on, Cornouaille, and Vannes). In the canton, the flag features an ermine field, a traditional symbol of Brittany derived from the region’s historic coat of arms. Designed in 1923 by Morvan Marchal, the flag has since become a symbol of Breton identity and cultural pride.
