✒️ The Beiyang government was a political entity that ruled China from 1912 to 1928. Its flag, the Beiyang flag, was a simple design featuring five blue stripes on a red background. The five stripes represented the five major Chinese ethnic groups: Han, Manchu, Mongol, Hui, and Tibetan. The Beiyang government was established after the Xinhai Revolution, which overthrew the Qing Dynasty. It was a weak and unstable government that faced numerous challenges, including warlordism, economic problems, and foreign intervention. The government was dominated by military leaders known as warlords, who fought for control of different regions of China. The Beiyang government eventually collapsed in 1928 when Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist Party defeated the warlords and established the Republic of China. The Beiyang flag continued to be used by some Chinese nationalists and diaspora communities after the fall of the Beiyang government.
