✒️ The flag of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (often referred to as Azad Kashmir), the self-governing territory administered by Pakistan, was officially adopted on September 24, 1975. This distinctive flag features a green background, symbolizing the region's Muslim majority, with four horizontal white stripes alternating with four green stripes in the lower half. The white stripes are said to represent the snow-capped mountains of the state, while the green stripes signify the lush valleys of Kashmir. In the upper hoist (canton) is a golden square, representing the religious minorities of the region. On the upper fly (outer edge) is a white star and crescent, a national symbol also found on Pakistan's flag, further highlighting the strong ties between Azad Kashmir and Pakistan.
