A white triangle, edged in black, points inward from the hoist side of the flag, containing a circular emblem. The flag was officially approved and adopted by the Arapaho people in 1956. The flag's design is rich with symbolism. The red color represents the Arapaho people, while black signifies strength and the lack of fear of death. The white color stands for knowledge, which is to be passed down to younger generations. The seven stripes represent the Seven Medicines of Life, which are sacred to the Arapaho. Within the central triangle, the circle is divided into black on the left to represent the heart, and red on the right to symbolize the human side, including happiness, strength, and sorrow. A white line separating the two colors represents the Great Spirit, reminding the people of their creator. The entire circle symbolizes the world, which is the center of their lives.
