✒️ Sampling from Revolutionary War and New England symbolism, this flag advocates for the unity of the Appalachian Ecoregion. The outline of the ecoregion is circled by thirteen stars, representative of the thirteen states that currently occupy Appalachian land. The canton includes the "Mountain Laurel" from the old obverse of the West Virginia flag, a symbol of the mountains and an advocation for unity with the current state of West Virginia, the only independent Appalachian state.
