The design is a direct parody of the historical American Gadsden flag, featuring a yellow field and a variation of the original motto. Instead of "Don't Tread on Me," this flag uses the collective phrase "Don't Tread on Us." The central image is altered significantly: in place of a coiled rattlesnake, it depicts a blue snake decorated with white stars, evoking the U.S. flag. This snake is shown coiled around and biting a black combat boot, which is labeled with the acronym "ICE" for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. The flag emerged as a symbol of protest in the late 2010s, particularly amid heightened controversy surrounding U.S. immigration policies. Its design subverts the traditional symbolism of the Gadsden flag, which historically represented colonial resistance to British authority and is now often associated with libertarian and conservative movements.
