✒️ The 1st Indiana Free Corps is a Black (anarchist) Militia regiment formed to defend the rights of people in Indiana from all powers, foreign and domestic, often being recruited for building security, political protection, and event security. The flame in the shield represents the protection of the people of the state, and the lone star in the torch represents independence. The security shield with the eye is a representation of vigilance and security. The 13 stripes (alternating navy blue and gold) represent the original 13 colonies from which the regiment's beliefs are based: life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. "A Mercenary Without Pay" comes from the 1920s song "Freikorps Voran" where the Regiment gets their inspiration from the German Freikorps (minus the fascism). "Our Freedom, Our Rights" is rooted in the American Revolution. "To Tyrants We'll Not Yield" Originated in the Bacon Rebellion, however was quickly picked up by the Confederacy. And now is used as a rallying cry to protect Indiana.
