✒️ The original Green Mountain Boys flag had 13 stars for the 13 rebelling colonies. As it happens, Vermont entered the Union as the 14th state, and, since 1835, has had 14 counties. Additionally, as an independent republic, the coins bore the motto "stella quarta decima" (the fourteenth star) and the current state Latin motto is "stella quarta decima fulgeat" (may the fourteenth star shine bright). Thus, it seems appropriate to create a slightly modified version of the classic Green Mountain Boys flag with 14 stars.
